Midweek tunes and crochet

Also, the lovely Captain Plaknit is letting me help out on the 'Knit A Wish' project for Subiaco, we spent yesterday measuring various objects and a bird pooped on me but it was fun anyway! We put up a couple of tags to get things going, I haven't made anything for it yet but there will be lots of crochet soon. More wool is on the way for Ben's blanket as well, updates soon!

It's a red, green and white theme for Christmas.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Scotland and squares.

Some light reading for our big move... We are moving to Scotland, gah! I've got a backpack and am already getting ready to trek around Europe (let's not worry too much about the whole living in Scotland, freezing to death thing - just a small issue!) Living in Perth has not prepared me for this.

Reading

Ben makes the move earlier than me and so in order to make sure that he keeps warm over there I am furiously crocheting a blanket for him to take....

Squares in bunch

Blanket

Cosy warmth... Lucky there was a yarn sale at Spotlight! Hopefully it will all be done, I have about 5 weeks to finish it in so fingers crossed I can stitch up a storm before then.

Blue squares

These blue squares were made ages ago from some yarn I got from our neighbour who was moving and selling everything super cheap, they clearly never became a blanket so you can see why I'm worried about getting the new one done in time!

Dress fabric

Many crafty things to do before we pack up all of our stuff... Material for skirts is hanging around and waiting to be sewn, I also have to get rid of my yarn stash, pictured below. What to make...

Stash
I feel some crochet related injuries looming on the horizon. As long as we get some warmth out of it, that's fine with me! Scotland - WTF.

finished.

After lots of late-night crochet and swearing I managed to finish my piece and get it up on the wall late last year for the grad show. It's funny watching people look at something you made, I think that was the best bit about the whole process. The quizzical looks.

It's over. Thank goodness.

Hammering in all those little pins sucked.

Almost there!

I mentioned that I have been caught up in a crochet frenzy recently, It’s not over
yet but I thought I would show you the progress we’ve made! It’s a piece for
the City of Perth’s Art In Bloom (in the city) festival and will be going up this Thursday. Captain
Plaknit
has made the beautiful centre circle and I have made the flowers – It’s
been really great to work on, I just pop on a DVD and spend my evenings with
crochet hook in hand! It was great to finally see it all together…

From-the-floor
The finished piece will be going up on this greenwall structure in the Northbridge Piazza. I'm sure that the install will be quite a funny sight!

Greenwall
Lots of flowers still to be made, but it's coming together! Soon It'll be back to the circles for my uni piece and one day I might even crochet something that will actually keep me warm!
